Onomatopoeia unmasked as Adam Garcia in The Masked Dancer's grand final

Onomatopoeia has been unmasked as actor Adam Garcia in The Masked Dancer's grand final.

The Coyote Ugly star was the runner-up in a stunning grand final on the ITV show, hosted by Joel Dommett. Oti Mabuse, Peter Crouch, Jonathan Ross and Davina McCall sit on the panel and have been giving their verdict on who might be behind the mask - and some big names have been thrown around.

During Saturday night's final, Onomatopoeia was finally revealed as musical star Adam after a string of exciting and high energy dances. Some of the routines had been choreographed to the likes of Ed Sheeran's Bad Habits, a street dance to a Black Eyed Peas mega mix.

Earlier in the final Strictly judge Bruno Tonioli was unmasked as Pearly King and later Glee star Heather Morris was crowned winner, as she revealed to be Scissors.

Adam has starred in well known romance and teen movies such as Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen and Coyote Ugly. More recently he appeared in Murder on the Orient Express and Death on the Nile.

Adam told host Joel Dommett after his unveiling: "I always step away from dancing and then something brings me back - and I realise, that’s right, I love dancing… it brings joy."

Throughout the weeks, there have been a big list of names attached to the identity of Onomatopoeia. Guesses from the judges – and the public – have included the likes of Russell Kane, Chris Eubank, Thierry Henry, Tinie Tempah, David Tennant and Andy Garcia.

In their first week, they said they were "one thing made up of many parts" whilst they also revealed that "what I do takes standards but I'm here for the long game" as fans rushed to social media to guess who might be behind the mask.

"And if there's one thing that'll fire me up it's the sound of a crowd in a stadium cheering to get me on my feet," they added in the clue package, "Believe me, I know first hand a billion times over. So do you like the sound of me? Tonight, ready? steady?"

Other clues related to the person being very successful, adding: "Is there a science to success? Is success the goal? That's the BIG question! Personally I don't know the answer, but I do have my science kit."

They also hinted that they have had many directions in their career with a recent clue package that said: "Life can be a game, and I'm always up for a challenge. I am a form of wordplay after all. But I like to stay busy meaning always starting your day right.

"I like to think I have natural drive. It's good to be in control of your own journey. And I certainly have learned to steer my career in all sorts of directions. Even though I've travelled the world, I like to keep it green and clean if I can."

Speaking about why he wanted to do The Masked Dancer, Adam said: "I really enjoyed the first season so when the opportunity arose I really wanted to do it.

"I love to dance and I knew I would be challenged to learn and perform styles I have always wanted to try."

On speaking about getting so far in the competition, Adam said: "Well getting to the final was a delight. I didn’t want to leave in the first week, partly because of ego but also I just want to dance more."
