OnlyFans ditches pornography ban in policy U-turn after furious backlash

OnlyFans has ditched plans to ban all pornographic content from the popular app after a furious backlash.

The adult content subscription service last week announced plans to stop creators from posting sexually explicit material on its website.

Creators would still be allowed to post nude pictures and videos, provided that they met OnlyFans’ new policy.

The announcement sparked anger among sex workers who rely on the platform as a source of essential income.

But in a massive U-turn, OnlyFans has now confirmed that the proposed policy changes will be scrapped.

A spokesperson for the platform tweeted: “Thank you to everyone for making your voices heard.

“We have secured assurances necessary to support our diverse creator community and have suspended the planned October 1 policy change.

“OnlyFans stands for inclusion and we will continue to provide a home for all creators.

“An official communication to creators will be emailed shortly.”

The popularity of the adult content platform has been on a sharp increase since it first launched in 2016.

Content creators earn money from users who subscribe to their exclusive feed of content - which includes pictures and videos.

High numbers of people signed up to the platform during the height of the coronavirus pandemic last year - with sex workers, influencers and musicians offering exclusive content to fans.

More than 130 million people now use OnlyFans - around two million of which provide content to the service.

Bella Thorne, Cardi B and Tyga are among the famous names that offer exclusive pictures and video on the platform.
