Only two months until Globe Life Field opens. How much work is left on new Rangers home?

The first event at Globe Life Field is scheduled for March 14, when the Chris Stapleton All-American Road Show comes to Arlington.

(He's bringing Willie Nelson, too.)

That's in 62 days. The ballpark, as of Thursday, was 90% complete.

Here's an update from various areas around the park.

Kitchens and concessions stands are one of the main focuses. The only remaining drywall not installed is in these areas. Equipment that has been installed is being tested.

More than half of the 40,300 seats have been installed.

Preliminary work has started on the field. Construction of a retractable pitching mound started last month. Concrete work for the outfield walls and bullpens, the last of the concrete work for project, continues. Laying down clay will begin by the end of the month.

Decking for the retractable roof is complete. Roofing work over the retractable structure is 85% complete.

Work continues on the seals along the roof track to keep wind and rain out of the building.

The office building that will house the front office, among many others, is nearing completion and should be ready to move-in next month.

Sidewalks, landscaping and finishing touches are being completed on the exterior. The first tree was planted last week.

The Texas Rangers will play their first game at Globe Life Field on March 23 in an exhibition against the St. Louis Cardinals. The Rangers play their first regular-season game there March 31 against the Los Angeles Angels.
