Brainteasers and optical illusions are a great way to do this, as they encourage you to really focus on a picture and use your problem-solving skills to spot the anomaly.
They're also ideal for sharpening your eyesight and perception skills, so if you feel in need of a boost this week, give this numbers-based brainteaser a shot and see how fast you can solve it.
Even the smartest among us can struggle with brainteasers, as they can sometimes feel impossible to crack or spot the hidden items.
And this one is a real challenge, as it encourages players to solve the problem whilst against the clock, the Mirror reports.
Take a look at this neon-coloured illustration which contains a sea of numbers, all of which appear to be 58 when you first look at them.
But there's an odd number out - and players need to really focus on the image and put their eyesight to the test to spot it.
The rogue number 38 is hidden somewhere in the image, and in order to be declared a "true genius", you need to be able to find it within 10 seconds or less.
If you need a helping hand, remember that optical illusions often play with colour contrast to trick your eyes and brain into seeing things that aren't there - or not spotting things that are.
The neon hue might be throwing you off, but don't give up and you'll soon spot the odd number out.
