Only the Jets could have a bad beat on a potential backdoor cover vs. Colts

Whew. It was quite a roller-coaster ride of a Thursday night Week 9 game between the New York Jets and Indianapolis Colts.

And it ended with a bad beat of sorts, one in which the Jets had a shot at covering the spread … but they were extremely Jets-y, for lack of a better word.

With QB Mike White injured and the Jets struggling defensively, the Colts went up 42-10 in the third quarter. Game over, right?

Nope. The Jets went on to score three times more, with only a fourth-quarter Colts field goal interrupting the action. It was 45-30 … and the Jets had the ball at the Colts’ seven-yard line with under a minute left.

This is important, because many sportsbooks had the Jets as +10.5-point underdogs, including Tipico. A touchdown would cover. Heck, even Joe Buck and Troy Aikman noticed minutes before.

But then?

Oof. I count this as a bad beat. But only the Jets could have a bad beat of sorts on a night like this.
