Only one Covid patient in critical care in Nottingham, figures show

There is currently one Covid patient using a critical care bed across Nottingham hospitals, according to the latest figures.

The NHS statistics, which is updated to as recent as Wednesday, February 15, show a significant drop in critical care beds being taken up by patients with the virus.

There was only one confirmed Covid patient using the beds across Queen's Medical Centre and City Hospital on Tuesday and Wednesday.

This is the lowest since June 19 last year.

Numbers had risen slightly, but not hugely, since the emergence of the Omicron variant and peaked at 20 in early January.

In terms of the rest of the county, on Wednesday only two Covid patients were in critical care across Sherwood Forest Hospitals, which runs hospitals in Mansfield, Sutton-in-Ashfield and Newark.

Numbers there have remained low for a considerable amount of time, however, not reaching more than five since January 11.

The overall levels of beds being used by Covid patients in Nottingham has failed to drop substantially.

They accounted for 188 beds on Tuesday.
