'Only Murders in the Building' season 5 trailer has a new roster of glamorous suspects — here's the full list

(L-R): Selena Gomez, Martin Short and Steve Martin in a first-look photo for "Only Murders in the Building" season 5.

Not many shows can mix laughs, suspense, and a star-studded cast quite like “Only Murders in the Building.” Since it first hit screens, the comedy-mystery has hooked viewers with its clever humor, twisty whodunnit plots, and the chemistry between Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez. Now heading into its fifth season, it’s clear the show has some serious staying power.

The Arconia is once again at the center of a chilling mystery. Season 4 concluded with the shocking discovery of the Arconia’s beloved doorman, Lester (Teddy Coluca), dead in the courtyard fountain.

In the newly released “Only Murders in the Building” season 5 trailer, the story opens with our comedic trio at Lester’s funeral, before cutting to the moment they receive the police report labeling his death as accidental. Unsatisfied with the official conclusion, they launch themselves into another investigation.

The investigation takes a darker turn as the trio finds themselves up against not just classic mob figures, but also influential billionaires who quickly become prime suspects. Things get even more complicated when Charles finds himself romantically involved with one of them.

With a decomposed finger showing up in the mail and the trio navigating the criminal underworld while still delivering their trademark humor, season 5 is clearly set to explore darker, more dangerous territory.

You can delve into the mystery too when “Only Murders in the Building” season 5 premieres on September 9.

“Only Murders in the Building” season 5 introduces a dazzling array of new characters that Charles, Oliver, and Mabel can’t help but investigate.

Renée Zellweger joins as Camila White, a powerful billionaire. Logan Lerman plays Jay Pflug, a tech mogul with a penchant for secrecy, while Christoph Waltz takes on the role of Bash Steed, a financier with an air of mystery.

It doesn’t stop there. Keegan-Michael Key appears as a charismatic entrepreneur, and Beanie Feldstein portrays a young activist with possible ties to the city’s underworld. Dianne Wiest is cast as a seasoned journalist with a nose for a story.

Téa Leoni is also returning for season 5. She previously appeared in the season 4 finale as Sofia Caccimelio, the wife of Nicky “The Neck” Caccimelio, a missing person linked to the Caputo crime family. Sofia approached Charles, Oliver, and Mabel to investigate her husband's disappearance, and it seems like she might have a romantic storyline with Charles.

Back at the Arconia, familiar faces like Nathan Lane, Richard Kind, and Da’Vine Joy Randolph will return.

With such a mix of characters, season 5 looks like it could include plenty of new dynamics and interactions for fans to look forward to.

The synopsis for this season reads: “After their beloved doorman, Lester, dies under suspicious circumstances, Charles, Oliver and Mabel refuse to believe it was an accident. Their investigation plunges them into the shadowy corners of New York and beyond — where the trio uncovers a dangerous web of secrets connecting powerful billionaires, old-school mobsters and the mysterious residents of the Arconia.

“The trio discovers a deeper divide between their storied city they thought they knew and the new New York evolving around them — one where the old mob fights to hold on as newer, even more dangerous players emerge.”

Season 5 premieres on September 9, 2025, with the first three episodes available on Hulu and Disney Plus, followed by new episodes weekly.
