‘Only after leaving India you realise this’: NRI in UK says everyday comforts we take for granted in India feel like ‘premium services’ abroad

An Indian woman living in the United Kingdom has triggered a discussion on social media after sharing how many everyday services that feel normal in India become expensive, limited or difficult to access overseas. In a viral Instagram video, Vidhi Lilha compared daily life in India and the UK, pointing to differences in delivery systems, domestic help, repair services, food access and customer support that many Indians living abroad quickly notice. ‘Things that feel basic in India suddenly become premium in the UK’

The video, posted on Instagram, carried the text: “Things that feel basic in India suddenly become premium in the UK.”

In the caption, Vidhi explained how convenience in India often works at a much faster and more flexible level. She wrote, “Doorstep everything. India: Food, groceries, medicines, returns, everything comes home. UK: Many things still require physical pickup or drop off.”
