"Only a daughter can do this," netizens hail Lalu Yadav’s daughter for donating RJD president kidney

Netizens have hailed Rohini Acharya, daughter of Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) president Lalu Yadav after the latter underwent a successful kidney transplant of which his daughter was the donor.

Mrs Acharya is in her early 40s and donating a kidney to her 74 year old dad was a risky decision.

"Ready to rock and roll

, Wish me a good luck," she tweeted on Monday sharing two pics from the hospital, in one of which she is seen with her dad.

"Proud of you… You will be an example for generations to come," Union Minister Giriraj Singh has tweeted originally in Hindi.

"As a daughter she has done her highest duty by donating her body part for her father. Indeed great sacrifice. I feel other way, recipient parents should think before receiving body organs in donation from it's kids. Though such decisions are personal, with no say for others," writes one Twitter user.

"You are a great daughter, living in Singapore but has a huge heart of Bihar ki Beti. God bless you," wrote another.

"Papa asked about Rohini's well being"

Talking about her father's and sister's health post transplantation process, Lalu Yadav's daughter Misa Bharti tweeted, "Got permission to meet father in ICU for some time. Everyone in the family was concerned for Papa and Rohini's well-being, so it was a very emotional moment to meet Papa after the operation.

Papa asked about Rohini's well being. Then speaking slowly, he started remembering old things."

"Papa was smiling slowly telling everyone some old story. This quality of forgetting the pain and focusing on positive things separates him from all of us, this always keeps him cheerful and alive," she wrote in another tweet, originally in Hindi.

Renal transplantation or the transplantation of kidney is done through a deceased donor or through a living donor. In this case, one kidney from a living person is removed and placed in the recipient whose kidneys do not function properly.

Usually family members are preferred in case of living donors as a better genetic match reduces the risk of rejection.
