Winning in the NFL is tough. Every week teams play an opponent and a million things can go wrong — or right. This isn’t the NBA where teams have sustained good runs. It isn’t MLB which makes it easier for big-market teams to win every year. The NFL structures its rules to create parity. It creates a schedule that allows for teams that had a losing season to make the playoffs the next year. That’s why these six teams are impressive. The following teams have had winning seasons since 2016 (wins are in parenthesis).
Some of these teams aren’t very surprising — like the first three teams on the list. The others are interesting. For all the hate that’s thrown at Jason Garrett — and I may be the number one offender — he’s won games. Seattle has gone through a rebuild on the fly but still continues to refuse to lose. It helps that they have Russell Wilson at the helm and Pete Carroll’s system can plug anyone in on defense and still shut teams down. The Titans may be the most surprising team of all. They never really feel like contenders, but they made the list.
Only six of 32 teams made it. That’s less than a quarter of the NFL teams. It seems like the Saints have always been good, but they aren’t on the list. Philadelphia didn’t make it. The Rams have two winning seasons. The Falcons and Panthers are just up and down. That’s it. Only those teams listed are the most consistent winners the past three years.
