HYDERABAD: Telangana police could recover only 56.3% of the property lost by the victims in the year 2020.
National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) data showed that out of the Rs 104 crore worth property which was lost, Rs 58.7 crores was recovered. It was in 2018, highest recovery was made in Telangana when 70.6% of property was recvered.
In the year 2020, out of the 104 theft cases, recovery was made in 59 cases. In 2019, recovery was made in 71 of the 128 cases and in 2018, the recovery rate was as high as 70.6% with the cops making a successful recovery in 113 of the 161 cases.
There is an increase of number of human trafficking cases registered in 2020 when compared to 2019. From the 137 cases registered in 2019, there is a jump of 47 additional cases of human trafficking registered in Telangana State.
Meanwhile, NCRB officials found that 3,755 children were missing by the end of 2020.
In all, 7,226 people lost their lives due to road accidents. The deaths due to negligenct driving were 6,288 cases at a rate of 16.8 deaths per lakh population. In hit and run cases, 1,365 people lost their lives in 1,332 cases at a rate of 3.5 deaths per lakh population.
In Hyderabad, 4,855 persons were arrested. Of this 2,287 were convicted while 2,095 were acquitted.
The state has also recorded 16 deaths due to medical negligence and five due to the negligence of civic bodies. 175 women died due to dowry harrasment while 701, majority of which were women, died due to various forms of torture and harassment.
