MP Ayushman CEO S Vishwanath said, “We have treated over 33,000 COVID-19 positive people free of cost in private hospitals directly in the pandemic. The number of COVID-19 treatment under Ayushman is lower in state in the reply because of non-inclusion of this figure in it.”
The state government has directly taken over beds in big private medical colleges, hospitals in the state for treating COVID-19 patients free of cost, added CEO Vishwanath.
TOI on July 2 reported that the state had treated around 18,301 COVID-19 patients under Ayushman Bharat scheme till the first week of June.
The beneficiaries number getting treatment rose rapidly in the second wave and in period afterwards because of the state government pushing for more empanelment of private institutions.

The state government treated 3.78 lakh non-covid patients through a spending of 546 crore in FY 2020-21, which was on a higher side than 2.78 lakh patients treated with 388 crores in FY 2019-20.
