BHOPAL: Only 27% of students of class 10 in Madhya Pradesh are able to derive formulae, equations and laws in science. This was revealed in the National Achievement Survey (NAS) report 2021 edition.
Madhya Pradesh ranked 5th in the national educational achievements of elementary classes (1 to 8) in the National Achievement Survey (NAS) 2021, report of which was released on Wednesday. The nation-wide survey was conducted by the CBSE on November 12 last year. Over 34 lakh students in 1. 18 lakh schools at 720 districts across 36 states and UTs were assessed. The last NAS was held in 2017.
As per the report, 35% of students in class 10 are able to classify and compare events, facts, data and figures against the national average of 37%.
In English subject, 42% class 10 students in MP are able to read, comprehend and respond to complex text independently while around 29% students were able to construct views, arguments, ideas on the basis of collected or given information in social science.
Around 38% of class 10 students were able to derive proofs of theorems related to the tangent of the circle in mathematics.
The report was based on the performance in all subjects through disaggregation by gender, area, management of schools and social groups.
In the language subject of class 3, around 62% students were able to read printed scripts on the classroom walls, poems, posters, charts and others. Around 46% of students were able to read and write numbers upto 999 using place value. It is better than the national average which stood at 45%.
In order to capture student attainment of Learning Outcomes at the end of Classes 3, 5, 8and 10, an OMR-based achievement test consisting of Multiple-Choice Questions (MCQs) was conducted. It assessed competencies and skills achieved by the students at different levels of school education through meticulously developed and field-tested items.
