Only 30 Men’s Tourney Brackets Remain Perfect on Friday Afternoon

Every year, March Madness bring its fair share of upsets. And, with every stunning loss comes hosts of college basketball fans collectively searching for the answer to one question: how many perfect brackets remain out of the millions submitted ahead of this year’s tournament?

Well, thanks to an already wild start to the 2023 men’s NCAA tournament, many CBB fans have already had the displeasure of watching their bracket go up in flames through the first 23 games. Day 1 saw No. 4 Virginia shockingly fall to No. 13 Furman after a clutch three from guard JP Pegues following a costly turnover by Cavaliers guard Kihei Clark. A few hours later, No. 15 Princeton stunned the world with a 59–55 victory over No. 2 Arizona.

Furman and Princeton’s Cinderella stories gave fans their first memorable stories of the ’23 tournament, but, now that history has been made, the question still remains how many perfect brackets survived the chaos. As of 6:09 p.m. ET on Friday afternoon, that number has been reduced to only 30 brackets through 23 games, according to NCAA.com. The tally accounted for the brackets submitted across the NCAA’s Bracket Challenge Game, ESPN, CBS and Yahoo.

With Friday marking the end of the first round, it’ll be interesting to see where that number stands entering the start of the round of 32 on Saturday. Judging by the action thus far, the remaining 30 perfect brackets could dip even further before day’s end, with three games currently in action and eight left to play.
