Roam without worry

Vodafone allows you to roam on 4G in more countries than any other UK network. With Vodafone EuroTraveller, you can take your UK minutes, texts and data allowance to Turin for just £3 a day, whether you’re using a phone, tablet, dongle or mobile Wi-Fi device. Find the best-rated cuisine, check maps to get your bearings and upload photos of your travels. To find out more, dial 5555 to opt in, or visit vodafone.co.uk/travelling.

Need-to-know apps

Download the Airbnb mobile app for your pick of eclectic accommodation in the city’s historic centre, where all the big sights are within walking distance. Get from A to B quicker via the Turin Metro and Bus Torino transport apps, allowing you to find stations easily and calculate journey times. Be your own tour guide with the ToTo4All app, leading you to all the city’s most popular cultural sights. If you’d rather be directed to Turin’s hidden gems, download Wami’s Turin travel guide (Apple/Android) to get real-time recommendations from locals.

Failsafe tips

  1. With Vodafone EuroTraveller, you only pay on the days you use your phone. Turn off roaming when it’s not needed to save your data allowance.
  2. Be cautious of local Wi-Fi networks as some may be unsecured. If described in a language you do not understand, you may not know what you are logging
on to. The best bet is to stick with trusted networks such as those available in your hotel or Airbnb.
  3. Set up a voicemail pin before you go on holiday. Vodafone customers simply need to dial 121, wait to be connected then select option 4, then 2.
Turin: numbers to note

Instagram this

Climb the 131 steps of the Basilica di Superga (€5 entry) for epic views of the city below and the surrounding valleys and mountains. It’s the perfect backdrop for a selfie. Alternatively, create an Instavid or Vine during a thrilling Segway tour through the Turin streets, or immerse yourself in the foodie paradise of Mercato di Porta Palazzo – its stalls ablaze with colour are ripe for #nofilter snaps. For downtime, grab a coffee at the 17th century Piazza San Carlo, and use Vodafone EuroTraveller to check in on your Twitter feed.

Tech fact

Turin is reputedly the birthplace of the first PC, the“Programma 101”, which was made by Olivetti in 1964. The Italian manufacturer is headquartered in nearby Ivrea.
