Online seminar will chart the future post-Covid for Scotland's hard hit hospitality sector

An online seminar charting the way forward for Scotland's hard-hit hotels and hospitality sector is to be hosted this week.

Law firm CMS is hosting the free to attend seminar which will look at the impact the Covid-19 pandemic is having.

The online event will be hosted Roland Smyth, head of CMS's hotels team in Scotland.

It will feature guest speaker Kate Nicholls, chief executive of UKHospitality and a main spokesperson for the UK hospitality industry since the start of the pandemic.

She will share her views on the effects on hospitality and on what what needs to be done to support its recovery.

Catriona Aldridge from CMS will highlight employment issues affecting the hotels and hospitality sector in Scotland, due to Covid-19 as well as Brexit.

Roland Smyth said: “The hotels and hospitality sector has been among the most affected by this coronavirus outbreak.

“As we endure what we hope will be the worst of this pandemic, it’s important to remember that Scotland’s hospitality sector is strong and has survived previous global crises.

“While we can’t pretend it will be easy, we are fortunate to have a well-established and highly collaborative tourism sector which will aid the recovery.

“Presenting both a positive and realistic assessment of the challenges ahead, our seminar will set out the opportunities for the Scottish hotels and hospitality industry as we begin to move forward and rejuvenate the economy.”

The event, which takes place this Thursday (21 May) at 16.00, is free to attend for representatives within the Scottish hotels and hospitality sector.

Participants can register and also submit advance questions for discussion during the event.
