Online predator snared by paedophile hunters living next to East Kilbride primary school

A Calderwood perv snared in a covert sting is living just yards from a primary school.

Sick Christopher Kennedy admitted sending vile messages and lurid sexual images online to someone he believed to be a 14-year-old schoolgirl.

But his despicable predilections were uncovered when he was shopped to the cops by paedophile hunters ‘United 4 the Kids,’ who revealed he had been talking to a decoy from their group.

Now living in Neville, the predator is just yards from Long Calderwood Primary.

Appearing at Hamilton Sheriff Court last week, the 31-year-old admitted sending messages of a sexual nature in an attempt to communicate indecently with a child between June 22 and July 27, 2018.

He also admitted sending moving images of a sexual nature to the member of the vigilante group believing it to be a 14-year-old girl.

At the time, disgusting Kennedy was sending the content from his mother’s address in Mount Cameron Drive North, even using her mobile phone to send the messages.

When the News tried this week to track down the sex offender, a relative continued to protest his innocence saying, “he’s done nothing wrong”.

That’s despite the creep sending links to pornographic sites and a picture of him performing a sex act to the ‘teenager’.

Depute fiscal Liza Lann described how twisted Kennedy, who has Asperger’s’ syndrome, was snared when the vigilante group found his address under the pretence of being a courier and streamed their sting live online.

The door was answered by his mum who then was heard turning to her son and saying ‘you haven’t, have you?’ before police were called.

Court heard how, when questioned by officers, Kennedy made no comment to most questions, but admitted recognising the name used by the decoy and being on the dating website.

Ms Lann told the court that Kennedy initially made contact with the decoy on an adult dating and gaming site saying he was 30-years-old. The decoy then started the conversation by saying they were a 14-year-old girl living in the UK.

Mobile numbers were exchanged and conversations on WhatsApp followed – these quickly became sexual with Kennedy saying they were “just between me and you” to the decoy.

He asked the decoy for a picture and when they sent one of a teenage girl, Kennedy replied “nice and sexy”.

Court heard how Kennedy sent inappropriate material to the decoy and repeatedly asked intimate questions.

The desperate perv asked the girl: “When you grow up – do you want to go with me – be my girlfriend, when you are 20?”

He also told the supposed teen that he was “just watching TV and playing with myself over your pic baby,” before suggesting he sent her pornographic videos and asking her to masturbate.

Ms Lann continued: “The accused sent a picture of himself performing a sex act as well as links to pornographic sites.

“During the conversation the accused was seen to use five different mobile numbers, including his mother’s, although the username remained the same.”

Kennedy’s defence solicitor told the court that many of the conversations not read out in court between his client and the decoy had been “mundane” and not all were of a sexual nature.

Sheriff David Bickett deferred sentence on Kennedy to June 11 and ordered a risk assessment to be carried out.

He was bailed to a property directly opposite Long Calderwood Primary pending reports and has been placed on the sex offenders’ register in the meantime.
