The strange disappearance and hospitalisation of Indonesia's parliamentary Speaker has fuelled relentless mockery of one of the nation's most powerful — and notorious — politicians.
Until now, Setya Novanto appeared to have a teflon coating.
He has been praised by US President Donald Trump, is a political ally of Indonesia's President Joko Widodo and emerged unscathed from multiple accusations of corruption involving mind-boggling sums of money, including an alleged attempt to extort $US1.8 billion from US mining company Freeport.
Mr Novanto denies that allegation.
But the politician known as "Papa" may finally have lost his non-stick sheen.
He has been widely mocked after fleeing anti-corruption investigators, vanishing for 24 hours, and then emerging in a hospital emergency room bandaged up like a burns patient.
Mr Novanto's lawyer claims the politician suffered serious concussion after his car struck a power pole on Thursday night — about 24 hours after anti-corruption investigators went to his home to bring him in for questioning.
He is now recovering in hospital, safe for the moment from investigators from the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) who want to question him over the alleged theft of tens of millions of dollars from government programs.
But the scale of Novanto's injuries do not seem to tally with photographs of a fairly minor car accident.
Tech-savvy Indonesians have expressed their feelings about the affair with an avalanche of tweets, memes and parodies.
Many of the posts sympathise with the innocent victim of the crash — the power pole.
On Twitter, the parodies are posted under the tag #SaveTiangListrik (Save the power pole).
Last month, Mr Novanto asked police to prosecute people who mocked him over an earlier hospitalisation for diabetes and vertigo.
