Roam Without Worry
Vodafone allows you to roam on 4G in more countries than any other UK network. With Vodafone EuroTraveller, you can take your UK minutes, texts and data allowance to Gothenburg for just £3 a day, whether you’re using a phone, tablet, dongle or mobile Wi-Fi device. Find the best-rated cuisine, check maps to get your bearings and upload photos of your travels. To find out more, dial 5555 to opt in, or visit vodafone.co.uk/travelling.
Need-to-know apps
Get around with the Reseplaneraren app and search routes and schedules for trams, buses, boats and trains. Thanks to the first 30 minutes being free of charge, the city’s cycle share scheme is very popular, making Hitta Styr & Ställ a must – this handy app plots your nearest bike hire on a map. Alternatively, take a self-guided walk with the help of Gothenburg Maps and Walks. Feeling hungry? Gothenburg now boasts an enviable food truck scene – use the Streetkäk app to find the best.

Failsafe tips
- With Vodafone EuroTraveller, you only pay on the days you use your phone. Turn off Roaming when it’s not needed to save your data allowance.
- Be cautious of local Wi-Fi networks as some may be unsecured. If described in a language you do not understand, you may not know what you are logging on to.
- Set up a voicemail pin before you go on holiday. Vodafone customers simply need to dial 121, wait to be connected then select option 4, then 2.
Instagram this
One of the oldest neighbourhoods in Gothenburg, the historic Haga District is filled with cobbled streets that could almost have been designed with Instagram snaps in mind. The colourful fresh fish stalls and delicious seafood on offer at the Feskekorka in Rosenlund are also unlikely to disappoint whether on the plate or through the lens. The Riverton View Skybar has panoramic views over the city, offering the ultimate selfie backdrop. By the harbour, you can paddle out in a canoe or kayak to film a Vine or Instavid. A quick ferry hop from the city is Brännö, a pristine island in the southern part of the Gothenburg archipelago, with stunning vistas ripe for #nofilter snaps.
