Online funeral fund for boy killed in horror crash may have disappeared, police say

Four teenagers, including Lucius Baira-Hill, died in the accident.

Police are investigating the alleged misuse of money raised to pay for the funeral of a boy killed in a North Queensland crash last month.

Lucius Baira-Hill, 13, and three other teenagers died when the car they were travelling in hit a traffic light pole in Townsville on June 7.

A 14-year-old boy was later charged with dangerous driving causing death.

Detective Senior Sergeant Dave Miles said about $7,000 was raised online for Lucius's "funeral fund".

The detective, who heads the Child Protection and Investigation Unit, said no-one had been charged but several people were being investigated.

"The purpose of the investigation is to follow the money and identify what individuals have had access to it."

The page received more than 140 donations and anyone who made a contribution is asked to contact police.

"What we need to identify from those people is what they believe the stated purpose was that they were donating for and where they believe their funds were going," the detective said.
