A fundraiser has been organised to support the mother of a front-line nurse who is in intensive care fighting Covid-19.
Friends of Mylene Angelie Bognot, who works at Tallaght University Hospital in Dublin, decided to start the GoFundMe page for her mum who has the virus.
Myrna was diagnosed on January 15 and required hospital treatment in the Philippines.
An ICU bed at the hospital in Manila costs €3,000 without any further costs.
Speaking to the Irish Sunday Mirror, Mylene said she has been blown away by the generosity.
The 27-year-old said: “I have a great support system in Dublin and this difficult time has really shown them to be another family for me.
“I really can’t believe so many people have made a contribution to my mother’s battle with Covid 19, from those who I know personally to complete strangers.”
And speaking about her mother’s condition, Mylene said she has had to be ventilated and is in intensive care.
She added: “My mother is currently in Manila, she is still being ventilated and is receiving treatment in the intensive care unit so we are taking things day by day.”
