Ongoing incident on busy A78 causing heavy tailbacks

An ongoing incident on a busy Ayrshire road is heavily affecting traffic flow.

The A78 northbound is tailed back as emergency services deal with the incident.

Fire, ambulance and police crews are all in attendance at the incident near Todhill Training Centre between Irvine and Stevenston.

Traffic is queued all the way back to the cut-off towards Eglinton Country Park.

A police spokeswoman said: "Police attended the A78 near Todhill around 10.40am on Wednesday, 18 December, following a one-car crash.

"The ambulance and fire services were called and one lane was closed."
