One-year-old boy reunited with beloved soft toy after losing him during trip abroad

A young air passenger's birthday was made when Jet2 returned his beloved toy bunny rabbit after he'd lost it on holiday.

Shaun Tennant and Jenny Wilkinson flew with their son, Louis, to Majorca from Leeds Bradford Airport in June.

When they got to the holiday hotel they realised that Bun-Bun was missing, a discovery which caused Louis a great deal of distress.

Luckily, a flight attendant had found Bun-Bun the rabbit on the aircraft and handed it into the lost and found office.

Rather than simply waiting for someone to come and collect the soft toy, Jet2 staff took to social media to appeal for information in a bid to find the owner.

Luckily, a friend of the family spotted the image and tagged Shaun – but only after the family had arrived back home in Wakefield following their holiday.

After that Shaun and Ivonne Ballinas McLachlan, a customer Helper who works in Majorca the airline, swapped details and arranged for Bun-Bun’s journey home.

At this point, other workers at the company stepped in to make Bun-Bun’s journey home memorable.

Before flying home to meet Louis, Bun-Bun was pictured with his own suitcase and boarding card, holding hands with staff as he makes his way to the aircraft.

He was then captured sitting in the aircraft cockpit getting ready to fly.

Bun-Bun has now arrived back to the UK and was reunited with Louis for his first birthday.

Shaun said: “We are so grateful to the entire Jet2.com team. Everyone has gone out of their way to make sure that Bunny was brought home and they’ve even brought the journey home to life thanks to the pictures they have shared, it’s amazing.

"The moment Louis saw him he reached out to grab him with the biggest smile and it’s fair to say it has been a brilliant first birthday.”

Ivonne, customer helper, said: “We knew that one customer would be really missing his toy bunny so we wanted to do everything we could to bring them back together.

"Making customers happy is what this job is all about, so I’m over the moon to have helped get bunny back to Louis for his birthday.

"I guess all that’s left to say on top of that is happy birthday Louis – and I hope bunny enjoyed his flight home."

Slothy made it home - and brought some friends along (@FamilyLockdownTips&Ideas)

Last year a mum heaped praise on "kind and generous" workers at an amusement arcade who went the extra mile when her son accidentally left his favourite toy behind.

Helen Lupton shared the story on Facebook, hoping it would go viral and those responsible would get recognition for the heartwarming gesture which left her "blown away".

The mum had taken her son Blake to Pleasureland Amusements arcade in Whitby, Yorkshire, but realised when they returned home that his favourite toy, a purple sloth named Slothy, had been left behind.

Helen messaged the venue the following day to see if there had been any sign of the toy, but staff said nothing had been handed in to lost and found, leaving her little boy devastated.

Luckily Slothy was found by an amusement park worker and sent back to the family.

Helen shared heartwarming photos of the toy, along with two new toys and three packets of sweets, sent to Blake with a message reading: 'Hi, we thought Pablo (as we called him before we knew he was Slothy) would get scared during his journey so we sent him with a friend and some snacks to share with you when he got back home safe and sound."
