A one-year-old boy has died after being rushed to hospital in West Sussex.

Full circumstances around the death remain unclear and a police investigation is under way.

Officers were called to a property in Worthing at 12.57pm on Wednesday following concerns for the boy’s welfare, Sussex Police said.

A spokesman added: “The boy was taken to hospital by ambulance staff where he sadly died.

“Full circumstances surrounding the death are being investigated and the matter has been passed to the Coroner’s Officer.

“Next of kin have been informed and support is being provided to the family.”

Sussex Police said no further update will be issued by the force on Wednesday.
