Standing next to the National September 11 Memorial and Museum at a symbolic 1,776ft, New York’s One World Trade Center is the tallest building in the US. Having been under construction since 2006, it was crowned last year with its finishing touch, the spire, and will open doors to tenants and public alike later this year. Initially known colloquially as the Freedom Tower, it has been heralded as “a shining beacon for New York’s downtown”.

As it is the city’s newest – and most poignant – landmark, we’re particularly interested to see your pictures and hear your experiences of how the building has become part of your local cityscape. Does it loom over your street, peek out between buildings or is it just a glint in the distance? Share your photographs of 1 WTC taken from your neighbourhood, from any angle or distance – and we’ll collect the best in a gallery on Guardian Cities. Just click on the blue ‘Contribute’ button, or if you’re out and about you can download the free GuardianWitness app for smartphones.
