One World: Together At Home fans gobsmacked to realise where Hozier is from

Fans tuning in to the One World: Together At Home Special concert on Saturday were left stunned to discover where chart topping star Hozier is from.

The 30-year-old Take Me To Church singer, whose real name is Andrew John Hozier-Byrne, took part in the epic six hour warm up concert ahead of Lady Gaga’s final One World: Together At Home Special concert.

Appearing on screens agains a simple wall, and wearing a dashing black polo neck jumper, the singer belted out one of his tunes to the delight of fans.

However, many took to Twitter upon seeing the singer on screen, as they couldn’t believe he is an Irishman.

“How did I not know Hozier is IRISH no wonder I luv him,” one apparent fan confessed, with many others tweeting variations of the exclamation: “Wait Hozier is Irish?”

However, other fans were shocked by the apparent ignorance, with one tweeting: “how did y’all not know Hozier is irish?”

Hozier wowed viewers with his version of Take Me To Church, and also urged fans to support their local medical professionals who are fighting COVID-19 every day.

“I hope you can show support to your local caseworkers, doctors and nurses,” he said.

“This is a pandemic that respects no borders or walls or political persuasions,” he continued.

“It’s something we all have a responsibility to tackle together,” he added.

Earlier in the warm up show, Ellie Goulding compared herself to a carpet as she sang her hit tune Burn.

While Jessie J left fans stunned by the size of her huge home.

Lady Gaga has gathered some of the biggest music acts in the world to perform on Saturday in the USA, with the grand final concert due to star airing at 1am BST on Sunday 19 April.

The show will air on the BBC on Sunday night from 7pm.
