One-way system set up in part of Bristol city centre

A one-way system has appeared in central Bristol.

The painted arrows on the floor near Millennium Square are thought to be one of the first attempts in the city to implement social distancing outside.

Several large black arrows have been painted on Millennium Promenade.

It is not clear yet who is responsible for them.

Crowds of people could be seen enjoying the good weather in the Harbourside on Friday afternoon (May 8).

With temperatures set to soar this Bank Holiday weekend, police have urged the public to comply with the current lockdown restrictions.

However, many people went down to the Harbourside area of the city anyway, with a bar in the area also reopening as a takeaway service.

Social distancing measures could be in place in work places including offices, public transport, shops and schools, for as long as a year once lockdown is lifted, according to reports.

The Mirror reported this week how one-way systems and screens could all be introduced.

Stationary sharing could be banned and time-constrained face-to-face meetings could only held if absolutely necessary.
