Crash on M8 motorway as drivers warned to expect delays

A crash is causing travel disruption on the M8 motorway this afternoon.

Police are currently at the scene near Junction 22 heading onto the M77 after receiving the report of the incident at around 11:45am.

It is understood one vehicle was involved.

Traffic has been tailing back with the southbound carriageway partially blocked off. Drivers are warned to expect delays.

It comes after a flood alert was issued for the west of Scotland, with a Met Office weather warning in force for heavy rainfall between 3pm and noon tomorrow.

SEPA warns downpours could cause "significant flooding impacts from rivers and surface water."

"Potential impacts in the worst-affected areas include flooding affecting communities and travel disruption."
