ONE new case is under investigation in NSW after the state notched seven more coronavirus infections in the 24 hours to 8pm on Monday.
Four travellers in quarantine have been confirmed to have contracted COVID-19 while another two people with links to known cases or clusters acquired the virus locally.
NSW Health said a third locally acquired case was under investigation.
The total number of NSW cases to date is now 3987. Six people are receiving intensive care treatment, with 86 in total being treated.

NSW recorded four new cases on Monday, three of which were overseas travellers in quarantine and flagged concerns over dropping testing rates.
The latest figures come after NSW implemented new measures on Monday including $1000 fines for all attendees at gatherings that exceed the 20-person limit, not just the host.
The changes are part of new Public Health Order conditions that also have ramifications for places of worship, weddings and more.
The NSW government says the changes aim to ensure the safety of the community ahead of an expected increase in gatherings associated with Christmas and end-of-year festivities.
South Australia is also expected to drop its border closures with NSW, potentially as early as this week.
In Victoria, the numbers released on Tuesday showed a welcome 24-hour period without a fatality.
The southern state added 42 more cases.
