Samsung has been steadily introducing the One UI 8 beta to many of its best phones, with the most recent rollout coming to Samsung's 2023 flagship devices, as well as many of the company's mid-range phones.
According to a post on X from user @tarunvats, the updates sit at a pretty staggering 3,181MB download. While this is a big download, it does include access to Android 16 and the One UI skin, as well as the September 2025 security patch. According to a report from Android Police, the following models will have access:
- Galaxy S23
- Galaxy S23+
- Galaxy S23 Ultra
- Galaxy A36
- Galaxy A35
- Galaxy A55
- Galaxy A54
There is some bad news, as the beta is currently only live in India, but is expected to roll out to other countries soon. If you live in India, then you'll need to enroll through the Samsung Members app to be able to download the One UI 8 beta onto your device.
It's worth noting that, if it eventually comes to the U.S., only unlocked models of the Galaxy S23 series will have access. However, the same does not seem to be true for the Galaxy A55 and the other A-series models.
There are a couple of things to be aware of when downloading the update, mainly how it will affect your data. While the One UI beta will not affect any of your installed apps or the data associated with them, your phone will be wiped if you downgrade back to One UI 7. As such, we'd recommend backing up all your information before installing the One UI 8 beta.
What changes come with One UI 8?
The One UI 8 beta introduces some useful changes to your older Galaxy phones, including an update to the Quick Share feature. This update includes an improved UI with a full-screen view and an easier-to-understand design.
On top of that, the update also improves the AI Select feature, while also making it much easier to sort through your files by allowing you to filter them based on which app you used to download them.
The update also brings some needed improvements to Samsung DeX with new optimization options for the resolution, as well as allowing you to rotate the screen by 90, 180 or 270 degrees. There are also improvements to the split-screen feature on Galaxy phones, as well as a redesigned version of the Samsung Internet browser.
While we may have to wait a while to be able to try the One UI 8 beta ourselves, it is certainly one that is worth trying. Alternatively, Samsung has indicated that the stable public version of One UI 8 will start to roll out later this month, starting with the Galaxy S25 series.
