Liverpool fans watched on with interest on Monday night as Chelsea eased to victory over Brighton & Hove Albion.
Not only were one of the Reds' potential title rivals in action, but it was also the first chance to see what Timo Werner could offer in the Premier League.
Werner was heavily linked with a move to Anfield after an impressive four seasons at RB Leipzig and the 24-year-old was top of many Reds fans' shopping lists.
Yet the frontman instead went to Chelsea, with Liverpool not seemingly putting up much of a fight to prevent him moving to Stamford Bridge following financial implications due to the coronavirus pandemic.
He was handed his first start for the Blues in their opening Premier League game of the season on Monday evening - here's what Reds fans made of the striker's performance.
LFC Al: Chelsea have bought some great talent in Werner and Havertz. We need to spend money on big players sooner rather than later but I can’t see it until next season at the earliest. Fingers crossed the likes of Van Dijk, Mane and Salah don’t get an injury.
Gene-ius: Werner does not get into Liverpool starting lineup.... that, in my opinion, is why he ended up at Chelsea.
