One team who earned more TV money than Liverpool in Champions League last season

Barcelona earned more TV money than Liverpool from last season's Champions League tournament.

The Reds made €111.1million from TV distributed funds after winning the European Cup last season, beating the cash-rich Catalan giants 4-0 in sensational fashion at Anfield in the second-leg of their semi-final, overturning a 3-0 defeat at the Camp Nou .

Liverpool were given a €14.5m starting fee, a €9m group stage fee, €9.5m for reaching the last-16, €10.5m for getting to the quarter-finals and €12m for hitting the semi-finals before then being given €19m for getting to the final and winning the club's sixth title .

Jurgen Klopp's side were handed €13.1 from the TV pool and according to UEFA's coefficient, which would have been decided before the 2018/19 tournament got underway, the Reds were given €23.3m.

Barcelona received the same amount of money as Liverpool for the last-16, quarter and semi-finals but they of course did not receive any money for the final as they weren't participating.

However, Ernesto Valverde's side were ranked higher by UEFA's coefficient before the tournament and so received €13.8m from the group stage, €34.4m from UEFA and €22.9m from the TV and so overall gained €117.7m.

Both sides were given €0.2m from the final accounts.

Unsurprisingly, Liverpool received the highest prize money after winning the Champions League with €60m, followed by runners-up Tottenham who got €55m while semi-finalists Barcelona got €46m.
