One Stop store raided by two men armed with machetes

Armed robbers escaped with cash after holding up a convenience store in Sale Moor.

One Stop on Northenden Road was raided on Tuesday night by two men armed with a machete.

Police were called to the scene just after 9.30pm.

A spokesman for GMP said the thugs went into the shop and threatened staff.

They demanded money from the till before escaping with the cash.

A description of the two men has not yet been released.

GMP said there were no reports of any injuries, adding that enquiries were ongoing.

Less than 24 hours later, Sainsbury's in nearby Altrincham was robbed by three men armed with machetes .

The gang stormed the supermarket on Lloyd Street just before midday on Sunday and escaped with cash.

No one was hurt, but staff were left shaken.

GMP said there was nothing to suggest the incidents were linked at this stage.
