One stat shows just how sad Matt Ryan’s career has been with the Atlanta Falcons

Honestly, I don’t know how Matt Ryan does it.

The Falcons quarterback has basically spent the past 14 seasons watching teammates, multiple coaching staffs or a combination of both fail him. And sure, Ryan has had his share of poor performances, but you’d be hard-pressed to find a quarterback put together more objectively great games in losses.

It’s the Matt Ryan Story. And Sunday’s Week 4 loss to the Washington Football Team was more of the same.

The Falcons led Washington for nearly the entire second half on Sunday and still managed to lose after drops, conservative play calling and poor defense dropped Atlanta to 1-3 on the season. Ryan passed for 4 touchdowns and no interceptions in the loss, which was good enough to make some awfully sad history.

It was the fourth time that Ryan had lost a game in his career despite passing for 4 touchdowns and no interceptions. No other quarterback has had that happen to him more than Ryan.

Well, when a defense is giving up touchdowns like this, it’s easy to see why.

And the last time Ryan put up that stat line in a loss, the Falcons forgot the onside kick rules in an all-time choke job.

No matter the coaching staff, the Falcons keep doing that. They’re cursed.
