One Show viewers' fears for Alex Jones after suffering contractions on air

Fans of The One Show expressed concern for its pregnant presenter Alex Jones as she continued her duties just weeks before she is due to give birth.

Alex Jones, 44, has co-hosted the hit BBC show for more than a decade.

Back in March she announced live on air that she was expecting her third child, and earlier this month she revealed on social media that she had actually felt Braxton Hicks contractions while hosting a live show, which is broadcast every weekday at 7pm.

On Friday night, some viewers aired their concerns after Jones, from Ammanford in Carmarthenshire, walked out of the studio to an outside area to introduce Rag ‘n’ Bone man to the outdoor stage.

One viewer wrote: “Get Alex a chair!”, while another posted “Poor Alex, is she okay walking all that way?”

The presenter’s 3rd child - a girl - is due to arrive in August. She announced the news on air four months ago, having done the same with her second pregnancy in 2018.

Jones is one of three permanent hosts of The One Show, along with former footballer Jermaine Jenas and former Boyzone singer Ronan Keating.

It’s unknown who will replace Jones when she is away on maternity leave, as the show has had a number of relief and guest presenters in recent times.
