One-Punch Man season 3 is here, but is it still one of the best anime shows?

Lead character Saitama in One Punch Man.

One-Punch Man is back on our screens after a long six-year wait, leaving fans happy that it's returned at last.

It is considered to be one of the best anime shows, with a Rotten Tomatoes score of 91% from the critics, so it's not surprising that hundreds of fans tuned in to catch the first episode of One-Punch Man season 3 on Sunday, October 12.

It's never fun waiting years for your favorite show, I had the same issue while I agonizingly waited for Severance season 2, so it always feels good to celebrate the return of an iconic show.

The third installment of One-Punch Man focuses on the Monster Association arc, which sees Garou supposedly now on the side of the monsters. While episode one didn't contain any big action scenes and was mostly just set up, fans have given their early verdict.

It's impossible for everyone to agree, but it does seem like fans are happy with the new One-Punch Man, even if there's been some debate around the new animation style in particular.

Check out some of the fan reactions from X below:

Although we've only had one episode so far, with the second one set to drop on October 19, many fans seem keen to see how the fight scenes will play out, with many saying it's already better than its predecessor.

The official synopsis for One-Punch Man season 3 teased "full-scale hero vs. monster clashes", which will put pressure on lower and mid-ranked heroes. So, we should expect the show to pick up the pace as it continues, concluding with a season finale on December 28.

There's plenty scope for One-Punch Man to do some big things this season and after six years of no episodes, it feels good to be back. I was originally drawn to the anime because of its wild premise about a man who can defeat anything with a single punch, and it's managed to keep my interest from then on.

Perhaps it's too early to say, but I'm feeling optimistic about One-Punch Man. Right now it's doing well enough to retain its title as one of the best anime shows, and I just hope that continues with future episodes.

The series is streaming elsewhere too, with UK and Australian viewers able to tune in through Crunchyroll. It is also available on Netflix in Australia. For more information about scheduling, check out the release date schedule for One-Punch Man season 3 for everything you need to know.
