When the Philadelphia 76ers selected Ben Simmons with the top pick in the 2016 NBA draft, it was supposed to be a turning point for “The Process.” At the time, Joel Embiid had yet to play a game due to injury, but the Sixers had two players with legitimate superstar potential to build around.
Fast forward five years, and the Sixers — despite consistently being near the top of the East — have yet to advance beyond the second round in the playoffs. Simmons, who was blamed for the second-round loss to Atlanta, demanded a trade and was booted out of practice (which came after initially refusing to report to the Sixers).
Now, if only someone could have seen this kind of behavior coming from Simmons … Oh, right, Jonathan Givony did.
