One Player on ‘The Traitors’ Has Fans Talking With His Grammar Lesson

Fans of The Traitors just got a grammar lesson, and they’re loving it right now. Rob Rausch, of Love Island fame, made sure everyone at that table knew what the word commiserating means. (For the record, it means to feel sorry for someone. Derived from the Latin “commiserari” as well. That’s “to pity”)

Rausch heard Michael Rapaport use that word to accuse Colton Underwood of being a traitor. And after about the 4th time Rapaport used it, Rausch had enough. And his break at the roundtable has been the talk of social media ever since.

The Traitors fans watching at home heard Rapaport call out the former Bachelor and Bachelorette star as “a Traitor. A commiserating, colluding traitor. Commiserating. Commiserating Colton.” Now, thanks to Rausch, we know that’s not what the word means, it’s a bit funnier. But, it’s an ugly moment that marks a season that feels like it’s been disjointed in the early goings. I’m sure the ratings are still strong. But, it’s noticeable through the screen.

Rausch has earned praise from around social media with people complimenting his command of the English language. Even Johnny Weir made a joke about how the grammar correction made his fellow competitor more attractive. That sentiment is feeling more commonplace online now too.

That tense moment during this week’s episode basically sealed Rapaport’s fate. He had nowhere left to run after the entire group took up for Underwood. You had some pretty stinging assertions from both Weir and Natalie Anderson. In particular, the latter really let the comedian have it on his way out of the door. Anderson said, “Today, the way you spoke to Colton, for me, it’s enough to write your name down. So, I think we should just get together and vote him out of here.”

When it was time to do the deed, no one really had that much regret about Rapaport’s departure from the game. He was upset  by being booted relatively early in the proceedings. But, the chatter around The Traitors this season has swirled around how much people really haven’t enjoyed the full Rapaport experience. Reality TV is no stranger to a strong personality or two in its decades on the air. But, for a lot of folks, those blowhards of seasons past are at least fun to watch be terrible. It feels like that kind of pop has been missing from a lot of Rapaport’s interactions!

“It sucks, but I felt backed into a corner and I tried to fight my way out of it,” Rapaport said. “Maybe I fought too hard. I meant what I meant within the context of the game. It had nothing to do with his sexuality. I really, seriously apologize if I offended Colton or anybody in the house. That absolutely wasn’t my intention. I’m a fan of the game. I played hard. And I played a good game, except when it went a little too far, which sucks.”
