‘One Piece’ Has A New Role-Playing Game On The Way Later This Year

'One Piece Odyssey' will be released later this year. Bandai Namco

What with all the other One Piece games released over the years, we now have a new role-playing game to look forward to later this year.

With the new announcement trailer (shown below) depicting a sunken Thousand Sunny, it looks like One Piece Odyssey will deal with the Straw Hat Pirates being somewhat stranded.

With a story created by Eiichiro Oda, who also created the hit One Piece manga, it also looks like he designed the monsters and new characters for the game too.

If you are looking at the trailer and thinking “Hang on, this looks a lot like Dragon Quest XI” in terms of its art-style, then you also wouldn’t be wrong.

While Bandai Namco is producing this, ILCA is developing the game using Unreal Engine, and they also worked on the graphics for Dragon Quest XI. ILCA is also an experienced studio, having also worked on games like Ace Combat 7 and Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl.

That aside, Motoi Sakuraba will be composing the game’s music, who also works on the Tales series.

The Bandai Namco producer Katsuaki Tsuzuki also had a few words to say about the game and it sounds like it will hopefully turn out to be decent.

Released later this year, One Piece Odyssey will be coming to PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
