One person taken to the hospital after two vehicle collision on Jesmond Road

One person has been taken to hospital after a two vehicle collision in Newcastle.

Emergency services were called to Jesmond Road in Sandyford shortly after 8pm on Thursday evening following the crash.

The road was blocked while police and paramedics attended the collision which appeared to have been between a Ford vehicle and a Volkswagen.

The North East Ambulance Service confirmed that one person has been to the Royal Victoria Infirmary.

A spokesman said: "We received a call from a passer-by to a road traffic collision involving two vehicles.

"We took one patient to the RVI suffering from neck and back pain."

A spokeswoman for Northumbria Police said that the vehicles involved had not yet been uplifted as of 9.30pm.
