One person taken to hospital following collision involving HGV and tractor in Northumberland

A person has been taken to hospital following a collision involving a HGV and a tractor in Northumberland.

Emergency services attended a road traffic collision on the A68, near Otterburn, at around 9.30am on Monday.

Northumbria Police and the Great North Air Ambulance were also called to the scene.

The North East Ambulance Service confirmed that one person has been taken to the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle.

The road currently remains closed and police have urged motorists to avoid the area.

A spokesperson from the North East Ambulance Service said: "We were called at 9.29 to a road traffic collision between an HGV and a tractor on the A68 near Otterburn.

"We dispatched three double crewed ambulances and requested support from Great North Air Ambulance. One patient was taken to the RVI."

A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: “At about 9.30am today (Monday) we received a report of a two-vehicle collision on the A68 near Otterburn.

“Emergency services are at the scene. The road is currently closed and motorists are advised to avoid the area.”
