One person has been taken to hospital and a further two treated by paramedics after a four-vehicle crash on the A19.
A section of the road was closed in both directions at Thornaby after the collision on the southbound carriageway at 11.40am on Thursday.
Police, fire crews and paramedics were called to the scene, with one person freed by firefighters and three treated by paramedics.

One person was taken to the James Cook University Hospital for treatment and two treated at the scene before being discharged.
A North East Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: “We were called at 11.30am to a road traffic collision in the area close to Teesside Leisure Park.
“We dispatched two double crew ambulances and a clinical care manager.
“Two patients were treated and discharged at the scene. One patient was taken to James Cook Hospital.”
A spokesperson for Cleveland Fire Brigade said: “One casualty was extracted by fire crews and handed over to ambulance service.
"We had three engines there, from Thornaby, Stockton and Middlesbrough.
"Time of call was 11.33 am and we were away by 12.05 pm."
Drivers on the A66 east and westbound were unable to gain access to the A19 and were advised to avoid the area by Cleveland Police.
The road was closed at the Portrack turn off and traffic was held back the Tees flyover, with queues of lorries seen on top of the flyover.
Officers advised motorists to avoid the area.
All lanes were reopened by 2pm.
