One person taken to hospital after 'house fire' in Inverness as road locked down

One person has been taken to hospital following a 'house fire' in Inverness.

The dramatic event happened shortly after 5pm when emergency services, including Police Scotland and Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, received word of a blaze having broken out at a property on Dunabban Road.

Crews rushed to the scene of the fire, which is understood to have started on the ground floor. Images taken of the incident, which were shared online, show fire engines and police vans hitched up on the residential street.

The area is cordoned off with tape while officers guard the premises and firefighters, decked out in safety gear, tackle the flames, which are out of shot. Cop cars also block the road to prevent motorists from passing through.

The windows of the flats on both the ground and first floors have been flung wide open as crews come in and out of the building. It has been confirmed that the fire was successfully brought under control, however the cause remains unknown.
