One person shot at Galleria Dallas mall; police say shooter is at large

DALLAS _ One person was wounded in a shooting at the Galleria Dallas mall Tuesday evening, police said.

The shooter remained at large, but police said it was not an active-shooter situation. Authorities were searching the mall for the shooter, police said.

The victim was taken to Parkland Memorial Hospital in an unknown condition, police said.

Officers were called to a shooting in the 13300 block of Dallas Parkway about 6:45 p.m. Central time.

Hannah DeClerk said she was in the Bath & Body Works on the second floor when she heard at least five or six shots fired outside the nearby Nordstrom. She said she was able to leave the store through a back stairwell.

The mall was crowded, she said, and lots of people had been in lines waiting to get into stores.

DeClerk said she didn't see anyone wounded but heard screaming. "You could smell the gunpowder," she said.

When she got outside, people were "just devastated" by what they had experienced. "It was one of the scariest things I've ever been in," she said.
