One person seriously injured as van and Mercedes crash in north Leeds

A crash on a major road has left two people injured, one of them seriously.

Emergency services were called to the A61 Harrogate Road near Harewood House at 10.48 this morning to reports of a crash involving a van and a Mercedes.

The road was closed for some time as police and firefighters dealt the the collision which left the van on its roof.

Three fire engines attended the incident which is reported to have happened between Gateways School and Wike Lane.

A West Yorkshire Police spokesman said: "Two people were injured. One is believed to be minor injuries and one has serious injuries."

Bus services were diverted as emergency services dealt the incident.
