An explosion outside a fertility clinic in Palm Springs, California, has killed at least one person and injured several others on Saturday morning (local time).
Palm Springs is located in the desert and is a two-hour drive from Los Angeles.
The fertility clinic, located inside of the American Reproductive Centre, was also heavily impacted in the explosion.
The FBI have described the incident as an “intentional act of terrorism”.

The Los Angeles’ FBI Assistant Director, Akil Davis, addressed the media after the attack and stated that the clinic was “targeted”, but declined to expand on the possible motives behind the attack.
“Make no mistake: This is an intentional act of terrorism,” Davis said.
Davis also said that four people were injured, but did not discuss the severity of their conditions.
The act is being investigated as a possible vehicle explosion, with aerial footage of the scene showing a burnt car in the clinic’s parking lot.
The explosion heavily damaged the clinic’s office, as well as blowing a large amount of debris across the sidewalk and nearby buildings, but the IVF lab that stored embryos was left undamaged, per the Sydney Morning Herald.

An anonymous official told Associated Press that investigators believe the deceased was likely the person involved in the vehicle explosion, although they also stated that the investigation was still in its earliest stages.
In a post on X, the FBI Los Angeles’ account stated that there is “no known threat to public safety at this time” following the attack.
Investigations into the incident are still ongoing.
