One person injured in two-vehicle smash on M61

A man has been injured following a crash between two vehicles at Junction 6 on the M61 in Horwich.

Emergency services were called to reports of a collision at 6.25pm this evening.

One person was injured.

Their injuries are not said to be life threatening, police have said.

Nobody has been arrested.

There are still road closures which are remaining in place as enquiries are ongoing.

A GMP spokesperson said: "Officers received reports at 18.25pm for two vehicles involved in an RTC.

"Ambulance and police attended, there was one injured person. The injuries are not life threatening or life changing.

"Nobody has been arrested.

"There are still some road closures in place."

Earlier, Transport for Greater Manchester tweeted: "Traffic has been stopped on the #M61 northbound at J6 #Horwich.

"Emergency services are on scene and dealing with a RTC.

"Please use an alternative route if you need to travel this way.

"Delays expected."

Also, North West Motorway Police posted: "RTC on the M61 nb just after j6, all lanes of traffic stopped we are at scene and dealing."
