One person in hospital after house fire rescue

One person was taken to hospital after being rescued from a house fire in north Liverpool.

Firefighters arrived at a terraced property on Longmoor Lane in Fazakerley at around 9.21 am today ( Saturday) following reports of a house fire.

Crews used a power saw to get inside the house and then rescued one person who was taken to hospital.

The fire was put out by around 9.31am.

An investigation will now take place into the cause of the fire.

Local man Mark Hughes said: "I saw a crew used a power saw to go through the front door. A lot of smoke then came pouring out into the street. Another crew then went around the back of the house."

A spokesman for Mersey Fire and Rescue said: "Firefighters used a reciprocating saw to gain access to the property.

"Six firefighters wearing breathing apparatus entered the property.

"The fire had been extinguished by 9.31am.

"One person was rescued from the property by firefighters and taken to hospital by paramedics.

"All firefighting activity has now ceased. Crews are making up equipment and expected to leave the scene shortly.

"An investigation into the cause of the fire will be carried out in due course."
