One person hospitalised following horror Edinburgh crash as road closed

One person has been rushed to hospital after a horror smash in Edinburgh.

Police and fire crews raced to the scene on Lanark Road at around 2.50pm on Friday June 25 amid reports of a crash.

Two fire engines were called to assist as the road was shut down while emergency services attended the incident.

Police Scotland control rooms alerted motorists this afternoon: "Police Scotland and other emergency services dealing with a road traffic collision near to Woodhall Drive, Juniper Green.

"Road closed in both directions."

One person was rushed to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary. The seriousness of their condition is unknown at this time.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "We were called to a one-vehicle crash on Lanark Road, Edinburgh, at around 2:50pm today, June 25.

"Emergency services remain at the ongoing incident."

A Scottish Fire and Rescue spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 2.44pm on Friday, June 25 to reports of a road traffic collision involving two vehicles on Lanark Road, Juniper Green, Edinburgh.

“Operations Control mobilised two appliances and one casualty was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary."
