One person has died after a collision between a truck and a car at Melbourne Airport

One person has died after a collision involving a truck and a car at Melbourne Airport on Wednesdayafternoon.

Emergency services were called to the crash at the intersection of Terminal Drive and Centre Road about 2:40pm.

The driver of the car, who is yet to be formally identified, died at the scene and the female passenger of the car has life-threatening injuries and has been taken to hospital.

The driver of the truck was not injured in the crash and has been speaking to police.

Centre Road has been closed in both directions, police are directing traffic in the area and the Tullamarine Freeway has been reduced to one lane.

Police are investigating the cause of the collision.
